Mayors and top officials from 30 cities in the Yangtze River Delta attended the 18th Mayor Joint Session of the Yangtze River Delta Urban Economic Coordination Committee in Quzhou, Zhejiang province on April 12 and 13 to discuss how to promote the development of the delta region.
The meeting, with a focus on economic development, was initiated by Shanghai in 1997. The theme of this year's session was "construct a great garden and enter a new era to build a green and beautiful Yangtze River Delta".
Attendees discussed how to speed up the integration of resources, take advantage of each other's strengths, face difficult challenges, and promote coordinated development.
Quzhou, which joined the meeting in 2010, is considered a pivotal strategic city in the region.
The 30 mayors who attended the session came from Shanghai, Wuxi, Ningbo, Zhoushan, Suzhou, Yangzhou, Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Nanjing, Nantong, Taizhou, Changzhou, Huzhou, Jiaxing, Zhenjiang, Taizhou, Hefei, Yancheng, Ma'anshan, Jinhua, Huai'an, Quzhou, Wuhu, Lianyungang, Xuzhou, Chuzhou, Huainan, Lishui, Suqian and Wenzhou.
