Bridges and highways connecting Zhoushan’s Liuheng island with mainland is expected to start building in the year of 2013, according to a four-day long conference discussing the feasibility of the project, which was held from February 26 in Liuheng.
Authorized by Ministry of Transport, CCCC Highway Consultants Co., Ltd (HPDI) organized the conference to appraise advice report and report of feasibility research for Meishan Port Road, which were submitted by Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Communications Planning, Design & Research. Experts from field of social energy conservation, bridge engineering and investment estimation attended the conference and took a field survey in related project spots.
The expert group approved that the project is essential for the building of Zhoushan Islands New Area, it will also propel implementation of China’s strategy on marine development, integration of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, as well as the construction of Liuheng’s port-based industry and Meishan bonded port.
Based on reporting documents, the planning 40.4 kilometers long port roads include 8 bridges, which are about 20 kilometers long in total. If set up, the construction of project will be started in 2013, and finished by 2018.
