The State Council ratified further expansion of opening up on five port areas in Zhoushan on July 11. With an area of 109 km² extended and 672 more inspection staff quota approved for these areas, it became the widest in area and largest in item number among recently year's ratification on sea ports. And it also got 20.5 million yuan as financial subsidy, largest number of subsidy from central government since Zhoushan port opened up.
According to the ratification, five port areas counted 109 km² were included in the expansion, which were Gaoting, Dinghai, Laotangshan, Shenjiamen and Sijiao, involving 17 major projects like Pacific Engineering, and Cosco Shipyard.
It took about 3 years since Zhejiang presented the request to central government in May, 2009, before getting formal ratification in this July.
