As workers tightened the last bolt at 8:30 am on June 12, the Guanshan Cross-sea Bridge, one of bridges planned to be built to connect Zhoushan Island and Daishan Island was successfully closed.
“We started the project from 2011, and finally the exciting moment comes.” A engineer said.
The changing tides made it difficult to install 49 steel box girder of the bridge. Workers had to grasp tide regularity before they started to work. As the result of the changing tides, installing work in everyday must to be finished in two slack tides.
The bridge is predicted to open at the end of this year.
