On August 19, seven experts from sponsors of World Sea-angling Competition visited Baisha and Zhujiajian, two islands in Zhoushan's Putuo District. The purpose of the visit, which lasted two days, was to evaluate the conditions of the two islands for hosting the competition. The experts also met with officials from municipal government and exchanged ideas on site selection for world fishing center and the host of World Sea-angling Competition.
Statistics has showed that Zhoushan attracts more than 50,000 sea anglers every year. In recent years, Zhoushan has hosted several sea angling events in both national and international level. Zhoushan has been awarded by the Physical Culture Administration of China as State Training Base for Sea-angling. Zhoushan is equipped for hosting world level competitions.
However, some technical problems should be resolved by Zhoushan, for example, required fish species in competition sea area should be available in ten years or longer, six months before the competition starts fish species required needs to stocked with the areas, and local fishermen need to take English train course (at least six months) in order to be able to guide and communicate during competition.
